Addiction & Recovery

If drugs or alcohol are causing problems in your life, we can help. Addiction is a disease and we have tools to treat it.

If you want to talk to someone about your substance use and how it is affecting you, we have counselors who are ready to listen and help you move forward. We have individual and group counseling options, both in-person and virtual.

NorthLakes has many ways you can get help with drug and alcohol addiction. A good first step is to make an appointment with one of our addiction-trained mental health counselors (available at most clinic locations).

We also provide OWI assessments.

Addiction & Recovery Program

The NorthLakes addiction and recovery program is offered at the Ashland, Eau Claire, and Hayward clinics. Addiction-focused mental health counseling is available at almost all locations.

Our program addresses all aspects of your health and social needs, not just your addiction. We talk with you about your drug and alcohol use to create a treatment plan that fits your needs. You’ll have access to a care team committed to addressing the root causes of your addiction.

Participating in our program may include:

  • Individual counseling
  • Group programing
  • Medication-assisted treatment
  • Abstinence-based treatment
  • Help with housing, food, and safety
  • Medical and dental care
  • Ongoing recovery support

Core Recovery Groups

Our addiction and recovery program has four main counseling groups, depending on where you are at in your recovery. We also have other facilitated groups you may be able to participate in.

Early Recovery

Learn tools for dealing with cravings and recognizing things that may trigger you. Plus learn time management.

Seeking Safety

We help you work on how to make your relationships, thoughts, and actions feel safer and more calm.

Relapse Prevention

Learn and share ideas for staying sober. We talk about things like changing behavior, breaking patterns of thinking, and managing emotions.

Social Support

We focus on creating and finding alcohol and drug-free activities while building a lasting and supportive community.

Shared Experience Support

Our Peer Support Specialists are counselors who have dealt with addiction and mental health struggles themselves. They know what it’s like — and they’re living proof that recovery is possible. They’ll help you find what you need to keep moving forward in your recovery and wellness journey.

Ongoing Recovery Support

As you progress in your recovery, we connect you with resources to build a healthier life. We can help you with things like:

  • Feeling confident
  • Improving relationships
  • Taking better care of yourself
  • Handling cravings and triggers
  • Managing your time
