About NorthLakes

NorthLakes Community Clinic is a Federally Qualified Health Center serving communities throughout rural northern Wisconsin. We were created to make quality healthcare more accessible and affordable. That commitment continues today.

A Community Health Center for Everyone

As a community health center, we help patients and communities to remove barriers to health and wellness.

  • Serve people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Welcome patients with Medicaid/BadgerCare, Medicare, private insurance, or no insurance.
  • Offer a Sliding Fee to qualifying patients.
  • Provide services based on the needs of the communities we serve.
  • Work beyond the clinic to help remove barriers to health and wellness.

NorthLakes is governed by a patient-majority Board of Directors. Board members live throughout our service area and help guide our mission, strategy and priorities.

That community leadership is an important part of being a Federally Qualified Health Center. It helps keep the needs of patients and rural communities at the center of our decisions.

Decisions made at the state and federal levels can directly affect healthcare access in the communities NorthLakes serves.

As a community health center, part of our responsibility is helping policymakers understand the needs of our patients and the realities of delivering healthcare in rural Wisconsin.

NorthLakes shares information about our work, our communities, and the barriers our patients experience. Our advocacy is focused on strengthening access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.

Working With Healthcare Partners

NorthLakes works alongside organizations that advocate for community health centers and rural healthcare at the state and national level.

NorthLakes began with a group of northern Wisconsin residents who saw gaps in local healthcare and decided to act. What started as one community health center has grown through community partnerships, new clinics, and collaborations with other healthcare organizations.

Today, NorthLakes serves communities across northern Wisconsin while continuing the same basic purpose: making quality healthcare available where it is needed.

Growing With Northern Wisconsin

From opening new clinics to welcoming established local practices into NorthLakes, our growth has been shaped by the needs of the communities we serve.

Our clinics are different because the communities we serve are different. We work in small towns and rural areas where distance, transportation, workforce shortages, and limited healthcare options can make getting care more difficult.

Our staff lives and works in these communities, too. That local understanding helps us respond to what each community needs while connecting patients with the broader resources of NorthLakes.

NorthLakes maintains certifications, accreditations, and quality standards across our organization to help ensure patients receive safe, effective, and high-quality care.
