Understanding Medicaid
Medicaid is a government program that helps pay for health care. If you qualify, it is free or low cost insurance. BadgerCare Plus is Wisconsin’s Medicaid program for people ages 0–64. It provides comprehensive healthcare coverage, including medical care, prescriptions, mental health services, and more. You can apply at any time—there is no open enrollment period.
NorthLakes Community Clinic welcomes patients with BadgerCare and other Wisconsin Medicaid coverage. Medicaid patients are an important part of our community. Even if you don’t qualify for BadgerCare, your kids might.
Not Sure if You Qualify?
The best way to know whether you qualify is to apply. Eligibility depends on factors such as your age, household size, and income, and different rules may apply for children, pregnant women, and other Medicaid programs.
Applying for BadgerCare Plus
You can apply for BadgerCare Plus at any time. You can apply through ACCESS, by phone, by mail, or through your local agency.
Our Community Health Workers can also help you apply and understand the enrollment process.
Already Enrolled?
Keeping your coverage is important. Medicaid members generally complete an annual renewal to confirm they still qualify. Watch for notices from Wisconsin Medicaid and keep your address and contact information current.
If you need help completing your renewal, contact our help team. If you no longer qualify for BadgerCare Plus, our team can help you explore Marketplace or other coverage options.
Renewing Your Coverage
BadgerCare Plus eligibility is reviewed each year. If Wisconsin needs information from you, you will receive instructions explaining what to submit and when.
Maximize Your Medicaid
NorthLakes provides many services covered by BadgerCare Plus, including medical, dental, behavioral health, and other healthcare services.
Coverage varies by service and your specific Medicaid program. If you have questions about whether a service is covered, our help team can connect you with the right information.

Already Have Coverage
BadgerCare Plus coverage must be renewed periodically. Wisconsin reviews eligibility each year, and some members may be renewed automatically while others will need to complete a renewal.
