NorthLakes Community Clinic’s Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is designed for people who are new to medical assisting and want to train while working as a medical assistant.
Through the program, you’ll gain hands-on experience while working toward becoming a certified medical assistant (CMA).
No Cost for You
NorthLakes covers the cost of the training program, coursework, and certification.
What You’ll Do
As a medical assistant, you’ll work closely with patients and providers to support whole-person care. You’ll help promote preventive care, assist patients with their treatment plans and help address barriers that may make it harder to access care.
Program Requirements
- Be accepted into the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
- Work full time as a Medical Assistant while completing the ICATAP (In-Clinic Assistant Training Apprenticeship Program).
- Complete required educational coursework outside of work hours within 12 months of beginning the program.
- Complete required on-the-job skills training under the direction of a preceptor.
- Obtain Medical Assistant certification within 12 months of completing the educational program.
- Commit to 12 months of employment with NorthLakes as a Certified Medical Assistant after completing the program and earning certification through American Medical Technologists (AMT) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
