Behavioral Health Therapist

Education

Doctor of Psychology — City University, New York, NY

Professional Interests

Sean provides individual counseling to adults, and also facilitates some groups. His professional interests include depression and anxiety, substance use, grief and loss, as well as trauma. His approach is person-centered, psychodynamic, and existential, and incorporates elements from motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Sean spends a lot of time in the natural world, hiking, fishing, and snow-shoeing. He's been moonlighting as a poet and novelist for many years, too.

Patient Advice

Therapy is one of the only spaces that allows someone to step outside the various life roles they inhabit and speak only. I find it very rewarding to be part of that process, of the explorations and growth that can happen in the private space of a collaborative relationship. Some people who are considering coming in might know exactly what sort of support they need. Others may be more uncertain, and that's okay, too.
